The difference of PE and PVDF
- PE is generally used indoors, guaranteed for 10 years. PVDF is generally used outdoors and are guaranteed for 15-20 years.
- PE is only single and double-coated, PVDF includes double-coated and three coated
- PE is mostly used for coil, PVDF coating is mostly used for plate
- PE coating can only be single or double-coated, coated too thin shelf life is very short, coated too thick easy to caking, but PVDF does not have this problem.
PVDF coating process
- Put the plain coils in the decoiling machine and let it trough the Material storage tower.(To prevent turn off the whole processing line when we change new coil)
- Pre-processing. Firstly through the alkaline water tank to degrease the coil,secondly use the tap water to clean,then the acid to neutralize the remnant alkali,at last completely clean with pure water.
- (the temperature is 210-230 degree Celsius).
- Add the chromium to passivate the coil and enhance the adhesive strength.
- Can protect mill finish aluminum surfaces and improve the adhesion of the top coating. Usually use clear varnish or white and gray paint.
- Use air cooling system or water cooling system to cool them down.
- drying again.(water cooling system)
- According to customers’ requirement to make PVDF top coating and backside coating.
- Covering the surface of coils with plastic film.
- Packaging with inner paper tube about 15-20mm in thickness.
- Sending them to the storage.

What is the PVDF?
PVDF full name is Polyvinylidene Fluoride, mainly refers to the coating of vinylidene fluoride homopolymer or vinylidene fluoride and other small amounts of fluorinated vinyl monomer copolymer. The chemical structure of the fluoric acid base is bound by fluorine/carbonization bonds. The stability and firmness of this chemical structure make the physical properties of fluorocarbon coatings different from those of general coatings. In addition to the wear resistance in terms of mechanical properties, the impact resistance has excellent performance, especially in harsh climates and environments showing long-term fading resistance and UV resistance. After the film is baked at high temperature, the molecular structure of the coating is tight, and it has superior weather resistance. Fluorocarbon coatings can be divided into traditional fluorocarbon coatings and nano-fluorocarbon coatings according to the film formation structure of the surface.
